Maggie’s Yorkshire, a local independent charity supporting those living with cancer and affected by it, recently appointed our very own Founder and Entrepreneur, Sandra Patel-Stewart as a board member.

The campaign board features a range of diverse influential leaders from across the Yorkshire region. Their latest appointment, Sandra will support capitalising funds for the Maggie’s Yorkshire centre, utilising her strong network. Sandra hopes to raise brand awareness, secure more partnerships with local businesses and drive a positive impact.

Our CEO and savvy businesswoman, Sandra, has been in the recruitment world for nearly 20 years. Sandra and her team of Directors have been running the tech-focused recruitment firm for 10 years situated in Leeds city centre with an office in Berlin, Germany.

Sandra was delighted to be invited as a board member. When asked, she said, “I am truly honoured to be a board member. At Transition Partners one of our key core values is giving back to our community. I look forward to working as a collective with my fellow board members to create a strategy that supports not only the foundation but also our local community.”

Laura Riach, Maggie’s Centre Fundraising Manager, said, “we are so excited to have Sandra join our board of incredible volunteer leaders who all give their time and expertise for free. Sandra and her team at Transition Partners will be able to help raise so much awareness of our wonderful centre and the support we can provide to individuals, families and companies.“ She also added, “Sandra is going to bring so much to the table and help us to reach the next level in terms of awareness and funds raised to support people living with cancer across the Yorkshire region.”

Maggie’s currently has 26 centres across the UK; they opened Maggie’s Yorkshire, a multi-award-winning eco-friendly building in the heart of Yorkshire, Leeds, in November 2019. After being hit by the global pandemic just months after opening, the charity went through a highly challenging time. However, they continued to offer their service and compassion throughout lockdown, providing support to those suffering. “Coming into the Maggie’s Yorkshire centre is like being welcomed into a warm hug; we wanted to keep that environment open for those who needed that special hug the most over such an uncertain time in their lives”, commented Laura.

We cemented a charity partnership with Maggie’s earlier this year after feeling inspired and connected to the non-profit charity’s values and ethos. “To see the positive impact Maggie’s is making to so many people’s lives is very moving; we are extremely honoured to partner with a local charity that supports a cause that is very close to my own heart and a lot of the members of the business,” Sandra added when asked about the charity.

We were also recently proud gold sponsors of Maggies Yorkshire Orange Charity Ball, where £70,000 were raised to aid the Maggie’s Yorkshire foundation. And the organisation has committed to raising more funds through team events and initiatives in 2022 and beyond.
